The stars aligned on Hollywood Boulevard as G20, Amazon Prime Video’s latest high-octane political thriller, made its world premiere at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre. But while the red carpet was graced by the film’s entire A-list cast, it was Viola Davis who turned heads with an entrance fit for a president.
In a dramatic and cinematic moment, the Oscar-winning actress arrived via helicopter, escorted by a full motorcade, instantly becoming the focal point of the evening. The crowd erupted as Davis, dressed in a shimmering ruby-red gown reminiscent of her presidential wardrobe in the film, stepped onto the red carpet with commanding presence.
In G20, Davis stars as President Danielle Sutton, a fictional U.S. Commander-in-Chief who finds herself at the center of an international crisis when the G20 summit in Cape Town is attacked by terrorists. With world leaders taken hostage, President Sutton must draw on her military background and inner resolve to fight back and protect those in her care.
The film, directed by Patricia Riggen, blends political suspense with explosive action and emotional depth — a mix that industry insiders say could make G20 one of the biggest streaming hits of the spring.
“Viola Davis brings authority, vulnerability, and firepower to a role that breaks the mold of traditional action leads,” one critic noted after the premiere.
Joining Davis on the red carpet were co-stars Antony Starr, Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, and Ramón Rodríguez, all celebrating the global debut of a film already gaining traction for its bold narrative and powerhouse performances.
G20 will be available to stream worldwide on Prime Video starting April 10, 2025.
