Amazon MGM Studios has officially delayed the second season of its high-budget spy thriller Citadel, moving its release from fall 2025 to spring 2026. The decision comes amid creative concerns, with insiders suggesting the studio is not satisfied with the current state of the series.
The delay also affects the planned global expansion of the Citadel universe. Spinoffs like Citadel: Diana (Italy) and Citadel: Honey Bunny (India) have been put on hold, with no confirmed production timelines. These projects are now contingent upon the performance and reception of Season 2.
Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, Citadel debuted in 2023 with one of the highest budgets in television history — a reported $300 million for six episodes. Though the series received mixed reviews, it has since gained a devoted fan base.
While anticipation for the next chapter grows, fans will now have to wait until 2026 to see where the story goes next. In the meantime, Amazon is taking the extra time to recalibrate its ambitious franchise strategy.
