James Bond has been a film franchise heavyweight for over 60 years. Created by Ian Fleming, Bond’s popularity on the big screen has never wavered, from Dr No in 1962 to the most recent adaptation, No Time to Die in 2021.

Some of the biggest actors in the industry have taken on the role of Bond with grace and aplomb – but which big star could be the best bet to take over from current incumbent, Daniel Craig?

Online casino site, BetVictor, conducted a recent survey to find out more!

Hardy is the obvious choice

From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, some huge stars have filled the role of James Bond over the past six decades. Most Bond actors have a shelf life of between five and eight films, with Craig having starred in five to date.

However, with rumours circulating that No Time to Die may have been Craig’s last, we can reveal that Tom Hardy is the most popular choice to take on the role, receiving 33.47% of the vote. Next best was Henry Cavill with 22.31% followed by Idris Elba with 16.73%. Over to you, Mr Hardy!

Goldfinger revamp would be popular

James Bond has been in many iconic films since its first inception in 1962. Some of the films over the past 20 years are absolute classics in the film industry, paving the way for memories that last a lifetime.

We asked what film made before 1980 would the public like to see revamped in the 21st century and Goldfinger led the way with 27.09% of the vote, staving off competition from Live and Let Die (22.31%) and The Man with the Golden Gun (19.12%). Wouldn’t it be incredible to see this classic in the modern day!

Connery was the best Bond

The viewers may want Tom Hardy to become the next James Bond once Daniel Craig has stepped down from the role, but what about those actors who played the debonair agent in the past?

We can reveal that the Scottish acting great, Sean Connery, won this particular poll with a strong 34.66% of the vote, ahead of Craig (24.7%) and Roger Moore (16.73%), who replaced Connery in the 1970s. It says a lot for Connery’s reprisal that he is still revered 50 years later.

Goldfinger wins again!

There have been many memorable villains across all 25 Bond films. From Scaramanga to Oddjob, to Zukovsky and Raoul Silva, Bond has won battles against all these old foes. However, Goldfinger came out a comfortable winner as we asked the question “Who is the best Bond villain?”.

Claiming 39.04% of the vote, Goldfinger’s score was more than double his closest challenger who was Oddjob with 17.93% of the vote and Blofeld (14.34%). That revamp would be a huge success!
