There was a report in July 2022 that Scorsese and DiCaprio would collaborate again on The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder by Grann. On October 20, 2023, Scorsese and DiCaprio will release Killers of the Flower Moon, an adaptation of a Grann novel.
According to The Times, Scorsese revealed in a recent interview that The Wager would be his next project.
“I don’t want to slow down,” Scorsese said. “At my age, your body tells you at a certain point you need to pace yourself, but I’m still searching for, as I mentioned earlier, the answer to how we take care of each other. I thought that my films should reflect that. I have tried the best that I can.”
Additionally, Scorsese said he’s adapting Home, a 2008 novel by Marilynne Robinson, for a feature film. He also previously discussed working on a new film about Jesus, which he decided to make after meeting Pope Francis.
What The Wager will be about?
In the 1740s, British naval ship The Wager is wrecked on a desolate island off the tip of South America. The captain and crew struggle to survive and maintain order, while battling not only the most extreme elements but their own human natures.
